Grad MFU Scholarship 2024
Eligibility and Conditions for Scholarship Applicants
1. Must be eligible to enroll in a master’s degree program, specifically a program that requires a thesis, for the academic year 2024.
2. Must have completed a bachelor’s degree with a cumulative GPA of not less than 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, or equivalent.
3. Must have a thesis topic ready.
4. The main advisor must meet the qualifications according to Mae Fah Luang University’s regulations on graduate studies.
5. Must have a co-advisor who is currently working abroad (the co-advisor must meet the qualifications according to Mae Fah Luang University’s regulations on graduate studies).
Qualifications and Conditions for the Main Advisor
1. Must be a full-time faculty member of Mae Fah Luang University with the qualifications of a main advisor in the scholarship application program. They must also have a certain number of published works in academic journals as follows:
1.1. For Science and Technology disciplines and Health Sciences disciplines, the advisor must have at least two research publications in international academic journals indexed in SCOPUS, in the first or second quartile, within the past five years. These publications must not be part of the advisor’s own graduation requirements.
1.2. For Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines, the advisor must have at least two research publications in international academic journals indexed in SCOPUS within the past five years. These publications must not be part of the advisor’s own graduation requirements.
2. The number of graduate students under the advisor, including the applicant, must not exceed the limits set by the Mae Fah Luang University regulations on graduate studies.
3. The advisor must not have previously advised a thesis or dissertation student who violated the terms of their scholarship agreement.
Number of Scholarships
A total of 15 scholarships will be awarded (covering only the flat rate tuition fees as charged by the program).
Application Schedule and Consideration
1. Application period: From now until August 16, 2024.
2. Consideration and announcement of results: August 2024.
Application Process and Required Documents
Applicants can download the application form at https://postgrads.mfu.ac.th and submit the application either in person or via email by Friday, August 16, 2024, with the following documents:
1. For Scholarship Applicants:
1.1. Completed scholarship application form with a 1-inch photograph.
1.2. Copy of passport.
1.3. Copy of degree certificate.
1.4. Copy of academic transcript.
1.5. Copies of published academic works (if any).
1.6. Copies of awards received (if any).
2. For Main/Co-Advisors:
2.1. Copies of two academic publications (within the past 5 years for the main advisor).
2.2. Curriculum vitae (for the co-advisor).
2.3. Acceptance letter or email from the co-advisor.
Conditions of the Scholarship
1. Scholarship recipients must enter into an agreement with the university according to the university’s prescribed format.
2. Scholarship recipients must maintain regular student status throughout the scholarship period.
3. Scholarship recipients must submit academic progress reports and dissertation progress, approved by their main advisor, to the university at the end of each semester.
4. The main advisor and the co-advisor who is based abroad must continue their advisory duties until the scholarship recipient completes their studies.
5. Scholarship recipients must have their research published in academic journals as follows:
5.1. For Science and Technology disciplines and Health Sciences disciplines, there must be at least one publication from the thesis in an international academic journal indexed in SCOPUS, in the first or second quartile.
5.2. For Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines, there must be at least one publication from the thesis in an international academic journal indexed in SCOPUS.
In all cases, the scholarship recipient must be the first author, and the main advisor must be either a co-author or the corresponding author. The affiliation of the scholarship recipient and the main advisor must be listed as Mae Fah Luang University.
6. Scholarship recipients must acknowledge the scholarship in the thesis acknowledgments and submit a copy of the completed thesis to the university upon graduation.
Termination of the Scholarship
1. The scholarship recipient completes their studies.
2. The scholarship recipient loses their student status.
3. The scholarship recipient’s cumulative GPA falls below 3.25 for two consecutive semesters, or they receive a grade of U in their dissertation course in any semester.
4. The scholarship recipient fails to comply with the scholarship conditions as announced by the university.
5. The scholarship recipient discontinues or takes a leave of absence from their studies without a valid reason.
6. The scholarship recipient engages in academic dishonesty, such as cheating on exams or plagiarizing academic work.
7. Any other reasons deemed appropriate by the university to terminate the scholarship.
Scholarship Consideration Process
The consideration will be based on the completeness of the information and documents submitted with the application. The Graduate Studies Committee of Mae Fah Luang University will review the applications and announce the list of scholarship recipients. The decision of the Graduate Studies Committee of Mae Fah Luang University is final.
