Master of Science Program in Health Promotion through Integrative Medicine
Programme’s Philosophy
The world is undergoing a paradigm shift in health perspectives, with people increasingly prioritizing personal health, focusing on prevention and health promotion, and valuing longevity and overall well-being. Thailand holds a strategic advantage in health and beauty services. Consequently, the wellness industry has been designated as a strategic sector in the 13th National Economic and Social Development Plan (2023–2027), which emphasizes enhancing the competitiveness of Thailand’s comprehensive medical and healthcare services.
In addition, the national wellness development strategy aims to promote wellness-related activities by integrating various wellness dimensions in a seamless manner to create added value—such as healthy food, herbal medicine, therapeutic massage, and physical exercise. However, traditional medical knowledge still lacks sufficient scientific validation, and research and development of herbal products have not yet been effectively commercialized.
Integrative medicine, therefore, emerges as an interdisciplinary approach that combines medical sciences, health sciences, and other relevant fields to deliver holistic healthcare that enhances quality of life and supports peaceful coexistence within society. In this regard, the Master of Science Program in Health Promotion through Integrative Medicine is committed to developing human resources capable of integrating medical knowledge to design health programs and wellness products that support well-being.
The program also aims to foster research that integrates medical sciences, health sciences, and other disciplines to holistically promote health. Graduates will be equipped to create integrative health promotion programs or products, possess fundamental skills in service provision, health consultation, business management, and communication within the health and wellness industry, and apply digital technology effectively. Moreover, they will be prepared to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams in dynamic and evolving contexts to deliver optimal outcomes and meet the public’s growing demand for health promotion and disease prevention.
The curriculum design is grounded in Constructivist Theory, which encourages learners to construct new knowledge through the integration of prior understanding with new experiences, and is supported by evidence-based learning approaches. Developed in collaboration with health and wellness enterprises, the curriculum responds directly to the needs of the wellness industry through problem-based learning and real-world, work-based learning experiences.
The Master of Science Program in Health Promotion through Integrative Medicine thus emphasizes producing graduates who can independently develop evidence-based research, design innovative health programs or wellness products, and become holistic health promotion professionals. They will also be equipped with the skills to innovate, provide consultations, manage health businesses, utilize digital technologies, and work systematically within multidisciplinary teams in response to a rapidly changing environment.
