Thesis and Dissertation Grants

A :    1.  Master’s degree plan A1: no more than THB 30,000
       2.  Master’s degree plan A2: no more than THB 15,000
       3.  Ph.D. degree plan 1
              3.1 Master’s degree to Ph.D. (plan 1.1): no more than THB 50,000
              3.2 Bachelor’s degree to Ph.D. (plan 1.2): no more than THB 80,000
       4.  Ph.D. degree plan 2
              4.1 Master’s degree to Ph.D. (plan 2.1): no more than THB 20,000
              4.2 Bachelor’s degree to Ph.D. (plan 2.2): no more than THB 30,000
 

A :  When the student has qualifications as follows,

      1. Being a graduate student in any programme that requires a thesis or a dissertation.

      2. Studying in the required study plan, not being tuition-overdue, and not being in an extended study period.

      3. Having already passed the thesis or dissertation proposal defense. 

A :  The student can apply only once per grant type, not exceeding the maximum rate.

A :  1. Application form DGC03 from GRAD MIS

      2. Three copies of the grant contract agreement, completely filled out

      3. Receipt, completely filled out 

      4. One certified true copy of the applicant’s ID card or passport

      5. Money deposit request

      6. One certified true copy of the first page of the applicant’s account passbook

A :  Before the date of 15th , every month.

A :  The student can check  the names of successful applicants, via website https://postgrads.mfu.ac.th

A :  Within 30 days after announcement of the successful applicants, and the money transfer will be notified via the student’s e-mail address.

A : The student does not have to send any receipt to the Office of the Postgraduate Studies. But, to maintain financial transparency, the student and supervisor shall keep an account of all withdrawals and payments, together with proof thereof, for further inspection in case of an auditing request by any organization, whether inside or outside Mae Fah Luang University.

A : Requirements for a student who receives the grant funding:

     1. The publication of part or all of the thesis or dissertation must bear the student’s name as the first author.

     2. The publication of part or all of the thesis or dissertation must bear the supervisor’s name as the corresponding author.

     3. Proportion of the student’s collaboration in the published work shall be 50 percent or higher.

     4. The student shall indicate in the Acknowledgments that he/she receives funding for publication/presentation or thesis/dissertation from Mae Fah Luang University (Publication and complete thesis/dissertation).

    The Office of the Postgraduate Studies, will review all 4 requirements when the student files for graduation.

 

A : If the granted student failed to comply with the requirements, the university would exercise the rights to reclaim the entire allocated portion of the grant and, if necessary, to delay the student’s graduation until such failure is completely rectified.

Research Presentation or Publication Grants

:  1. National conference or journal: no more than THB 5,000

      2. International conference or journal: no more than THB 10,000

When the student has qualifications as follows,

    1. Being a graduate student in any programme that requires a thesis or a dissertation.

    2. Studying in the required study plan, not being tuition-overdue, and not being in an extended study period.

     1. Applicant must conduct his/her research to the best of his/her ability, and must publish part or all of the research in accord with Mae Fah Luang University Notification on Publication of Graduate-Level Research Studies, B. E. 2560 (2017).

     2. The said publication must bear the applicant’s name as the first author and the dissertation/thesis supervisor’s name as the co-author(s) or corresponding author(s). The publication shall indicate Mae Fah Luang University, and its address (if required), as the applicant’s and his/her thesis/dissertation supervisor’s affiliation.

     3. Applicant shall indicate in the Acknowledgments section of his/her completed thesis/dissertation, that she/he received a thesis/dissertation support grant from Mae Fah Lung University.

 

A : If applicant fails to comply with requirements, the university retains the right to reclaim the entire allocated portion of the grant and, if necessary, to delay the applicant graduation until all of the requirements are satisfied.

Research Presentation or Publication Grants

:  1. National conference or journal not exceeding THB 5,000

      2. International conference or journal not exceeding THB 10,000

Qualifications of a grant applicant:

    1. Being a graduate student in any programme offered by Mae Fah Luang University.

    2. Not being indebted to the university and not being in an extended study period.

    3. Having part or all of his/her dissertation, thesis or independent study, accepted by a symposium for presentation or by an academic journal for publication, in accord with Mae Fah Luang University Notification on Conditions for Dissemination of Graduate Research Studies, B. E. 2560 (2017). The said research work can partially fulfill the applicant’s graduation requirements, as stipulated in Mae Fah Luang University Regulation on Graduate Studies, B. E. 2560 (2017).

Applicant can apply for only one grant.

:   1. Complete the application form DGC02

      2. Three copies of the grant agreement

      3. Receipt

      4. One copy of the applicant’s ID card or passport

      5. Money deposit request

      6. One copy of the first page of the applicant’s account passbook

The article published in a journal or in a symposium’s proceedings must bear the grantee’s name as the first author and the dissertation/thesis/independent study supervisor’s name as the co-author or corresponding author. The article shall indicate Mae Fah Luang University, and its address (if required), as the grantee’s and his/her thesis/dissertation/independent study supervisor’s affiliation.

     2. The grantee must present the work by himself/herself.

     3. The presentation or publication of the research work shall fully comply with Mae Fah Luang University Notification on Conditions for Dissemination of Graduate Research Studies, B. E. 2560 (2017), and Mae Fah Luang University Notification on Graduation Requirements for Graduate Students, B. E. 2560 (2017).

     4. The grantee shall indicate, in the Acknowledgements section of his/her completed thesis/dissertation/independent study, that she/he received a research presentation or publication support grant from Mae Fah Luang University.

     5. The following proofs of acceptance for presentation or publication must be submitted.

        (1) In case the article has been published in a national or international journal:

(1.1) A copy of the jouranl’s front cover.

(1.2) A copy of the journal’s table of contents.

(1.3) A copy of the full paper or article.

(1.4) A copy of proof that the journal meets Mae Fah Luang University’s graduation requirement.

         (2) In case the article has been published in a symposium’s proceedings:

      (2.1)  A copy of the presentation certificate or other official proof of presentation.

      (2.2)  A copy of the proceedings’ front cover.

      (2.3)  A copy of the proceedings’ table of contents (only the page bearing the article’s title.

      (2.4)  A copy of the full paper or article published in the proceedings.

      (2.5)  A copy of the symposium’s editorial board or organizing committee, with each member’s affiliation indicated;

      (2.6)  A copy of proof that the article was reviewed by experts in the field.

      The symposium must meet Mae Fah Luang University’s graduation requirement.

   (3) In case the article has been accepted by a national or international journal but has hot been published yet:

      (3.1)  The original letter of acceptance issued by the journal.

      (3.2)  The manuscript of the article submitted to the journal for publication.

      (3.3)  A copy of proof that the journal meets Mae Fah Luang University’s graduation requirement.

Note that when the article has been published, the grantee must submit all of the items required in 5. (1) above.

If applicant fails to comply with requirements, the university retains the right to reclaim the entire allocated portion of the grant and, if necessary, to delay the applicant graduation until all of the requirements are satisfied.
