1. To be eligible to apply for a postgraduate level scholarship, an applicant must be either one who has been admitted to or one who is already studying in a thesis or dissertation required Master’s Degree or Doctoral Degree programme of the University.
2. Academic performance
(A) Master’s Degree Level: A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPAX) of 3.00 in the 4.00 system or equivalent.
In the case of a GPAX of under 3.00 but not lower than 2.75, the applicant must submit proof of publication of at least 1 academic work in a conference proceedings or in a national academic journal in the TCI Tier 1 or Tier 2 database, or in an international academic journal in the Scopus database, or present proof of nationally or internationally awarded work which contributes to the University’s reputation.
(B) Doctoral Degree from Bachelor’s Degree: A minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPAX) of 3.25 in the 4.00 system or equivalent.
In the case of a GPAX of under 3.25 but not lower than 3.00, the applicant must submit proof of publication of:
– For programmes in science and technology fields and programmes
in health science fields: At least 1 academic work in an international academic journal in the Scopus database.
– For programmes in humanities and social sciences fields: At least 1 academic work in a national academic journal in the TCI Tier 1 or Tier 2 database, or in an international academic journal in the Scopus database.
(C) Doctoral Degree from Master’s Degree: A minimum Master’s Degree cumulative grade point average (GPAX) of 3.50 in the 4.00 system or equivalent, or publication of an academic work, as follows:
– For programmes in science and technology fields and programmes in health science fields: At least 1 academic work in an international academic journal in the Scopus database.
– For programmes in humanities and social sciences fields: At least 1 academic work in a national academic journal in the TCI Tier 1 or Tier 2 database, or in an international academic journal in the Scopus database.
3. The applicant must have a thesis or dissertation title, with an expert qualified according to item 7 having agreed to serve as the main advisor. [According to Mae Fah Luang University NotificationOn Mae Fah Luang University Postgraduate Level Scholarship Criteria, B.E. 2568 (2025)]
4. The applicant’s thesis or dissertation under the said title must beco-advisor working abroad. A person serving as a co-advisor must possess the qualifications as stipulated by Mae Fah Luang University Regulation on Postgraduate Level Education.
5. A successful applicant is one considered by the University as being worthy of receiving a support scholarship.
The main advisor of a student eligible for a postgraduate level scholarship must possess the following qualifications.
1. Being a full time faculty member of a university, with the obligatory qualifications required for serving as a main advisor in the grantee’s field of study;
2. Having proof of academic publications meeting the following criteria, where applicable:
(A) For programmes in science and technology fields and programmes in health science fields: At least 2 academic works within the past five years in international academic journals in Quartile 1 or Quartile 2 of the Scopus database. Any academic work submitted in partial fulfillment of a degree completion is not counted.
(B) For programmes in humanities and social sciences fields: At least 2 academic works within the past five years in international academic journals in the Scopus database. Any academic work submitted in partial fulfillment of a degree completion is not counted.
3. The number of postgraduate students, including the applicant, under the advisor’s direction shall not exceed the limit stipulated by Mae Fah Luang University Regulation on Postgraduate Level Education.
This type of scholarship covers the tuition as stipulated by the postgraduate programme enrolled, but not exceeding THB 50,000 per semester, to be a disbursed from the first semester in which the scholarship is approved to the final semester according to the programme’s study plan; the scholarship, however, does not cover other fees or expenses collected by the University (if any).
The successful applicant shall receive a postgraduate level scholarship in the amount stipulated by the programme enrolled, from the first semester in which the scholarship is approved to the final semester according to the programme’s study plan, for the applicable period of time stated below. The scholarship, however, does not cover other fees or expenses collected by the University (if any).
1. For a Doctoral Degree from Bachelor’s Degree grantee: A maximum of 5 academic years;
2. For a Doctoral Degree from Master’s Degree grantee: A maximum of 3 academic years; and
3. For a Master’s Degree grantee: A maximum of 2 academic years.
1. The grantee shall enter into a written agreement of terms and conditions with the University as stipulated by the University.
2. The grantee shall maintain the status of regular studentship throughout the duration of the scholarship.
3. Throughout the duration of the scholarship, the grantee shall submit to the University semesterly academic reports along with regular progress reports, both approved by the grantee’s main advisor.
4. The main advisor and the person working abroad who serves as a co-advisor must perform their duties as the grantee’s advisors until the grantee completes studies.
5. The grantee is required to have the following type of thesis or dissertation based academic work published in an academic journal.
(A) Master’s Degree
– For programmes in science and technology fields and programmes in health science fields: Publication of at least 1 thesis based academic work in an international academic journal in Quartile 1 or Quartile 2 of the Scopus database.
– For programmes in humanities and social sciences fields: Publication of at least 1 thesis based academic work in an international academic journal in the Scopus database.
(B) Doctoral Degree
– For programmes in science and technology fields and programmes in health science fields: Publication of at least 2 dissertation based academic works in international academic journals in Quartile 1 or Quartile 2 of the Scopus database.
– For programmes in humanities and social sciences fields: Publication of at least 2 dissertation based academic works in international academic journals in the Scopus database.
A publication at any level shall bear the grantee’s name as the first author, with the advisors’ names as the corresponding authors or co-authors, and shall name Mae Fah Luang University (and its address, if required) as the grantee’s and thesis or dissertation advisors’ primary affiliation (not applicable to a co-advisor or co-author not affiliated to Mae Fah Luang University).
6. The grantee must mention the University’s tuition support in the acknowledgments of thesis or dissertation, and must submit thesis or dissertation to the University upon graduation.
1. The University shall terminate a scholarship in the case of one or more of the following.
1.1 The grantee’s studentship is terminated.
1.2 The grantee earns a cumulative grade point average of under 3.25 for 2 consecutive semesters, or receives grade “U” for thesis or dissertation in any semester.

1.4 The grantee wishes to stop receiving a scholarship.
1.5 The grantee discontinues studies.
1.6 The grantee cheats on an examination or commits academic plagiarism, thereby violating the academic ethics and code of conduct.
1.7 The grantee commits any other offense that the University considers punishable by revocation of scholarship support.
2. In the event that the grantee takes a leave of absence from study, the University shall suspend the payment of monthly allowances during the leave of absence.
1. In the event that the grantee fails to complete studies, or fails to have thesis or dissertation based research published as required in this Notification, the grantee must repay to the University the full disbursed amount of scholarship and monthly allowances (if any).
2. The University may consider reducing or exempting the grantee’s repayment of scholarship in one or more of the following cases.
2.1 In the case that the grantee is unable to have thesis or dissertation based research work published as required in item 10.5 [According to Mae Fah Luang University NotificationOn Mae Fah Luang University Postgraduate Level Scholarship Criteria, B.E. 2568 (2025)] of this Notification, the grantee shall file a request to the Programme Administration Committee, the School’s Postgraduate Committee, and the Postgraduate Committee, respectively, for an extension of the research publication deadline. A maximum of 2 extensions may be permitted, each not exceeding 12 months.
If the grantee still is unable to have thesis or dissertation based research work published by the end of the extended deadline stated in the previous paragraph, the Postgraduate Committee may propose the matter to the President to consider reducing the amount of scholarship to be repaid by the grantee, pursuant to the applicable criteria and conditions issued by the University.
2.2 In the case that the grantee is unable to fulfill the graduation requirements due to force majeure, the grantee shall file a request to the Programme Administration Committee, the School’s Postgraduate Committee, the Postgraduate Committee, and the President, for a reduction or exemption of the grantee’s repayment of scholarship, pursuant to the applicable criteria and conditions issued by the University.
